. This maintenance program begins in February just after the Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Marathon & Half Marathon and is geared for those who've either just completed the program or are already running or walking and want to continue to run or walk with a group. This program moves around and meets in various locations throughout San Diego County.

3. Annual Training. This program is year-round and is for runners or walkers who want to continuously train with us all year long. No matter what your fitness level or goal, this program is sure to keep you motivated and encouraged throughout the year.

Are you affiliated with a charity?
In Motion Fit is not associated with a charity and you do not need to raise money to participate in this program. There are several good marathon-training programs where raising money for a charity is part of the program. While these can be effective and rewarding, we realize that it's not for everyone and may be impossible to do year after year. Some of our members choose to raise money for a charity, but it certainly isn't a requirement.

What color group will I be in?
For the In Motion Fit Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Marathon & Half Marathon Training program we'll have everyone do a 1-mile or a 3-mile pacing activity at the July orientation. You should walk or run at a comfortable conversational pace for this pacing activity. If you cannot talk, then you are running or walking too fast. Your time for this activity will be used to help us determine the best color group for you. For In Motion Fit Plus, our coaches will place you in the appropriate color group.

What is an ability-based color group?
In Motion Fit is divided into training groups. You will be placed in the group that best suits your training pace. For example, if you train at a 9- to 10-minute-per-mile pace, you will be a member of the Yellow group. This system works because it allows you to train with those who are at your ability level.

These groups are:
Yellow = Faster than 10-minute-per-mile pace marathoners
Red
= 10- to 13:44(marathon course time limit pace)-minute-per-mile pace marathoners
Orange = Faster than 12-minute-per-mile pace half marathoners
Green
= 12- to 15-minute-per-mile pace half marathoners
Purple
= 15-minute-per-mile pace and above half marathoners

What happens on any given Saturday?
First you walk or run with your color group. Your start time will vary from week to week and will be posted on this website. The seminar will follow the workout and begin at approximately 9 a.m.
(top)

What are the seminars?
On most Saturdays, after the group run/walk, we'll do announcements then hold a 15- to 20-minute seminar. Topics will all be health- and fitness-related, and will be led by knowledgeable professionals or coaches.

How much training does this program involve?
Realizing that most people lead very busy lives, this program is one that can easily fit into your schedule. For the most part, the program calls for running or walking only 4 days a week. Your long run or walk will usually take place on Saturday with your group. During the week, you run or walk for time only (i.e., 30 minutes), and for distance on Saturday.
(top)

What does 20 on the weekly schedule (during the week) mean? Are we running 20 miles?

During the week, we run for minutes. If the schedule says "30" on a Tuesday, you should run or walk 30 minutes. Do this at a comfortable pace unless instructed to do otherwise. On the weekends, we do miles, so the schedule will say 4 miles. Listen to your coaches on how to run these miles each week.
(top)

Do I have to be there every week?
No, many members are unable to make every Saturday session. The Saturday seminars are important, but you can always ask your coach or running buddies about what you missed. However, those long runs/walks are a lot easier when you're doing them with the group! And in our experience, the success of our members is directly proportional to their ability to attend the Saturday training runs/walks and seminars. When you do have to miss a week, check this website for the next week's schedule.
